Air Hawke's Bay Ltd (AHB) is the wholly-owned company of the Hawkes Bay & East
Coast Aero Club Inc and operates from the Hastings Aerodrome. AHB specialises in
providing full-time integrated fixed wing pilot training for both domestic and international
students and air charter services.

AHB has fifteen experienced instructors to operate the aircraft fleet that includes Piper
Tomahawks and Cherokees, Cessna 172s (glass cockpit), Rockwell Commander 114 and
Twin Engine Piper Senecas. These aircraft are supported with CAA approved simulators.

AHB was the first NZ Training Provider to be accredited with CAA Part 141and also has an Air Transport Operations that is
conducted under New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Part 135 certification.

The organization has New Zealand Qualification Authority approval and is also a Signatory to the Code or Practice for International
Students.

The above approvals and certifications and our 80 years of pilot training experience are all indicators to show you that our Company
is being run to high quality management standards and is a well recognized, stable and successful establishment.
Our Aerodrome is called the Hastings Aerodrome and is adjacent a small township
called Bridge Pa. It is situated on the Heretaunga Plains 2kms south of the western
suburbs of Hastings and 4kms from the Hastings City centre. There are two eighteen hole
golf courses adjacent to the Aerodrome. A Gliding Club, Skydiver Club, two Helicopter
Operators, Aircraft Avionics and Engineers and two Aerial Agricultural Operators are
based on the aerodrome

There is also a NZ Aerial Mapping Company and an Aircraft Servicing and Sales
Business. There are several privately owned aircraft at Hastings along with a group of
Amateur Aircraft Builders.
The main runway is 3500ft long, sealed and has night lighting installed. The parallel grass runway is 3000ft long. The grass/seal cross runway is
about 2000ft long. Fuel and oil are available. There are four Instrument Approaches into Hastings and up to eight different Instrument
Approaches within five minutes from take-off at Hastings. All Approaches are available for Instrument training.
We have accommodation based on the aerodrome and at a remote campus that is 3 km
away from the airfield. All accommodation is self contained with suitable cooking and
washing facilities.

Internet access is available at both sites.

Accommodation is $NZ130.00 per week payable a month in advance. A Tenancy
Agreement is required to be completed prior to occupancy that outlines the terms and
rules of behaviour to be observed.


A Board of Directors governs AHB. The Board oversees the strategic direction and
management of the company in close association with its CEO.

Management and staff have a dedication to customer service and a commitment to a
clear corporate safety culture.
All Operations are conducted in a safe, effective, and efficient manner so that the
customer receives the best service we can provide at the time.

There are fifteen qualified instructors supported by a devoted team of administration staff.
